Searching for our new home

We love the Frederick area and we actually love our townhouse in Ballenger Creek.  We have lived in Frederick for 6 years and bought our townhouse 5 years ago.  Our house backed up to a farm field until May when they started building a development in our backyard.  I loved being close to the city, but still having the country feel.  The construction for this development immediately made us want to start looking for a new place.

In May we reached out to our realtor and she started sending us daily e-mails.  NOTHING was calling our name and everything is so overpriced.  I only found one house that I thought I loved, but it had a pending sale.  I e-mailed the realtor for that home and our realtor to ask if the sale fell through to contact us.  We got that call!!!  I was so excited.  We went to see the house, while it was so pretty it would be a money pit and had a ton of issues.  It was an 1885 Victorian home and I will post some pictures below, but trust me it needed A LOT of work.

We went to one other open house in our neighborhood and I stalked the new postings multiple times a day and again nothing was "our house."  In the mean time we started getting our house ready to sell and replaced the flooring in our entire house.  This was not fun at all.  We did all of the tear up work to save money.  It was not an easy job.  Thousands of staples removed and multiple trips to the dump. Dirty, gross job!!!

As we could not find a thing on the market, I started looking at building a house.  I started to find that some new builds in the area were around the same price as current homes in our neighborhood.  One day James and I decided to drive around to a few communities and see what they have to offer.  We really liked the floor plans of one builder, but the lots were terrible.  Cliffs as back yards and they were pretty deep in the woods.  Our Hyundai's would not make it in the winter ha.  We also went to Holly Ridge and this is when our home building process started :)

Pictures of the Money Pit.  I might take some inspiration from the owner's excellent taste though.
