Still waiting for: Garage Door, apron(driveway prep), deck,

Before I get into this weeks updates, let us talk about all of the issues we had this week.  I swear this is a bad dream?  Really, how is this sill happening?

On Wednesday, my neighbor found more urine in his basement.  This is three days after he made them chip out and relay the concrete in his basement from the last urine.  At this point he checked our house and we were good.  My neighbor contacted our contractor's boss and they denied that it was urine after checking it out the next morning.

On Thursday we went to the house after work and I was sure to check out my basement and just guess what we found.....
Look at the waist height streams on the wall, and YES we did get evidence.
I called the contractor because I wanted him to come over to the house at that moment and of course he did not answer.  I went down to the sales office, because I was not waiting till the following morning when it was going to be dry.  The sales rep called management immediately and they had me send them the pictures.  About 30 minutes later I did receive a call from the contractor who was highly apologetic and embarrassed that this keeps happening.  He did say he was going to talk to his boss in the morning and this will be dealt with.  In my case, he was not trying to tell me this was not urine.  I got a call the following morning advising the concrete in my house would also be chipped out and replaced.  I advised that was not necessary and that a good cleaning would suffice.

Then on Friday we went over after work only to find more issues....

This is our neighbors house, but as you can see some type of equipment crashed into the siding and eff'ed up the new siding....
When we were leaving, I happened to notice that the garage door was being installed on my neighbor's house.  This might not look terrible to most people, but with all of our issues I noticed immediately that it was not the correct garage door.  The neighbor's house has all WHITE trim and the beige door was installed.  Our house is the one with the beige trim and that was our door.  The contractor was there and I did point this out to him.

As for my neighbor he was really not happy with the response to his urine issues and wanted the same mitigation (chip away and relay the concrete) on his new areas.  He ultimately decided he was done and not dealing with their BS anymore.  After the further issues that happened with the garage door and his siding on Friday, I was in the market for a new Neighbor.  I am sad.  I am mad.  I really liked this guy and I think he would have been a great neighbor.  He really watched out for us and helped us with a lot so far.  I just hope we get another great replacement and I hope that him and his family find a nice place after all of these issues. :(  Boo!

Week 7 and 8 - Please don't burn our house down with your flame throwing inferno!

Schedule:
11/21 - Monday -Air seal
11/22 - Tuesday - Deck band board
11/23- Wednesday -Pre-Drywall inspection, meter base
11/24 - Thursday -Thanksgiving
11/25 - Friday - Install Soffits

11/28 - Monday - Pre-Drywall meeting with lead contractor
11/29 - Tuesday -
11/30- Wednesday -Insulation
12/1 - Thursday - Insulation Inspection
12/2 - Friday -Drywall

The past two weeks have been slow, waiting for inspections and such.  We were supposed to have our pre-drywall inspection and meeting all before Thanksgiving, but since the plumbing and electrical took a few days longer the meeting were pushed out.

Here is a picture of the air seal.  I know it is hard to see, but all of the pink foam at all of the seams is the air seal.

After all of the trouble we were having, we decided we wanted to have a pre-drywall inspection from a 3rd party inspector.  We wanted to make sure all of the "shady shit" that was going down was to code.  The house actually appeared to be in pretty good condition, with only a few minor issues to fix.  The items were: Rubber boot flashings were not installed yet, concrete floor in basement is still irregular where they fixed the bathroom rough in, the duct for the stove top was bent, and gaps appeared between the sealant between studs.  I was happy to hear that when we huff and puff, we will not be able to blow our house down.

The following Monday we had our pre-drywall meeting with the contractor.  We walked the entire house with him and he let us know all about the house progress, let us ask any questions we had, and covered all of the issues that were found in the inspection.

James and myself were REALLY busy with the house and spent a TON of time over there, even though not much was going on.  One day we took pictures and video of every single wall.  The purpose of this was to be able to see where all of the studs, electric, and plumbing are in the future.  I printed out all of the pictures and we spent the next two nights detailing all of the walls, mainly measuring the distance between studs.  We never had much success with stud finders and we would have done anything for this detail when fixing items in our current house.  We were under a time crunch to get this information cataloged as the insulation and drywall were about to be hung!

Insulation in the master bedroom.  Where is the pretty pink panther stuff?
 Insulation in the living room.
Master bedroom is dry walled!  It is coming together!!!!!
 Kitchen/Dining room
James and mom in the family room
Morning room!

The CRAZIEST thing about this week was the flame throwing inferno in our basement.  A heat source is needed to dry the drywall mud, but holy moly this thing is SCARY.  They had this beast about 2 feet from the wall.  The basement was probably over 100 degrees and the wall was about the same.  Wonder what temperature the wall has to reach to spontaneously combust?  Good news, our house was still standing the following day.  With their track record so far and the dumb people they have working for them, I could smell a disaster!

Here was the actual schedule:
We went to the house on Tuesday and Thursday of this week.  We did get our plumbing rough and electric rough.  Better seen with the pictures below :)

But before we get to the pictures,  let's talk about how my neighbor found out that the contractors were pissing in our house instead of using the provided porta potties.  On the night of the 17th, I get the following pictures from my neighbor showing wet pee in the basement. He said that the urine smell was bad as well.  He e-mailed the lead contractor and let him know how unacceptable this was and that he wanted to know how this was going to be taken care of.  I was not expecting that he was going to do much, but the e-mail back was surprising.  He fired the crew that was there and was going to send a cleaning crew out the next day.  I seriously did not think we would ever have to deal with all of this BS!

Extra Window in the bedroom upstairs was framed in
Bathroom rough in and walls were uninstalled and James' office was studded out.

11/8 - Tuesday - Roof was Framed out and plywood was added

11/9 - Wednesday and 11/10 - Thursday - Set Exterior Doors, House Wrap, Fireplace Rough

 House wrapped, windows in!!
 Doors are in too!
This is a hard picture to see, but below the stairs there is a TON of space.  In the model home, the basement was unfinished and this space was opened.  Since our basement will be finished, this space was studded to be closed off.  We wanted to make this the cat's litter station.  The contractor advised that he cannot add a door as he would have to add fireproofing for the entire space, but he did frame it out for us so we can cut out the drywall and add a door after move in.
 Fireplace!!!

11/11 - Friday -13th - HVAC rough
 Ducting between the kitchen/family room
 Running all through the attic
Pretty new furnace!
Roof on!

On Sunday the 13th, I stopped by the house after I was in Lebanon for the weekend.  I was looking around the house and found some MAJOR issues with a few of the Trusses.  I am getting so sick and tired of their non-sense!  They should be finding this stuff, not me!  Believe me I did deal with this and it was fixed.
 Truss Connector, not even attached.
Truss Connector, not even attached. Different view of how far it was out and a cracked board.  They pounded the connector back and added several new nails to make sure it was secure.
A different truss holding our roof up, completely shattered.  They advised the integrity of the board was not compromised, but they did shore up each side of the board with plywood.  Our inspector did advise that it was the correct fit.

Think anything will happen next week?  Oh just wait till you hear that story!!!!
